Introduction

At present there is a large section of professionals in India with expertise to conduct audits for Information Security and some of them are also engaged with “Auditors of CERT-In empaneled organizations” . The auditors were expected to be a hybrid type of auditors who were capable of assessing the Information System Controls from the perspective of compliance to the ITA 2000 provisions which was the law of the land. This required a “Techno Legal Understanding” that not all IS auditors could manage successfully. With the need to now understand DPDPA 2023, the role of Techno Legal Auditors in India has undergone a further change and there is an urgent need to upgrade the expertise of “Technically qualified Information Security Auditors to understand the need to conduct audits with the Legal perspective”.

This transformation from Technical Information Security Audit to Techno Legal DPDPA audit is the need of the day and is being addressed by FDPPI though its C.DPO.DA. (Certified Data Protection Officer and Data Auditor) Course.

In order to expand the reach of such course, FDPPI is conducting a three-day offline program exclusively designed for Information Security experts and Auditors of CERT-In empaneled organizations engaged in audits. The first of such program will be held in Bengaluru, on 27th ,28th & 29th September 2024.

Profile

Vijayashankar Nagaraja Rao more popularly known as Naavi is the Chairman of FDPPI and founder of www.naavi.org A pioneer in Cyber Law and Data Protection in India and a thought leader with innovative concepts such as the Digital Governance and Protection Standard of India, (DGPSI) Data Valuation Standard of India, Cyber Evidence Archival and the Theory of Data etc.

He is an author of many books including “Guardians of Privacy…Comprehensive handbook on DPDPA 2023 and DGPSI”.

He is an ex-Banker and visiting faculty in many educational institutions including IIMU and created the unique C.DPO.DA. Certificate program for Data Protection Professionals in India. Naavi is also a certified Independent Director from the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs.

Naavi is a recipient of Lifetime achievement award for Cyber Law (2022), Privacy (2023) and other recognitions from the industry.

Ramesh Venkataraman is a seasoned professional with over 30 years of experience in Software and Systems Engineering. His expertise spans the implementation of Management Systems Standards (MSS), Software Process Improvements (CMMI), Program and Quality Management, Information Security, Data Privacy, and Business Continuity.

He is proficient in training, coaching, audits, assessments, and staff mentoring. Mr. Ramesh serves as Director of FDPPI and is a member of ISO/TC 292 (Security & Resilience), ISC 2 Bangalore Chapter, and a recognized PECB Trainer.

His certifications include PMP, CSM, Cybersecurity (CC), SAFe® 6 Practitioner, and various data protection and privacy certifications.

He is a certified Lead/Internal Auditor for several ISO standards and has specialized training in Privacy Laws such as EU GDPR, CCPA, PDPA -SG, DPDPA India, HIPAA to name a few.
